Ford Lemon Law California

Ford lemon law claims in California are filed under the Song-Beverly Act against Ford Motor Company. Ford and Lincoln use the National Center for Dispute Settlement (NCDS) arbitration program, not BBB Auto Line. Common qualifying defects include F-150 EcoBoost cam phaser issues, 1.5L & 1.6L EcoBoost coolant intrusion (Escape, Fusion, Focus), PowerShift DPS6 dual-clutch transmission (Fiesta, Focus), Explorer 10R80 transmission, Mustang Mach-E battery and software issues, F-150 PowerBoost hybrid problems, SYNC infotainment failures, and Bronco hardtop defects.

  • F-150 3.5L EcoBoost cam phaser. Phaser wear causing engine rattle on start-up; replacement campaigns and recalls.
  • EcoBoost 1.5L/1.6L coolant intrusion. Coolant entering cylinders causing engine damage on Escape, Fusion, Focus.
  • PowerShift DPS6 dual-clutch transmission. Fiesta and Focus 2011–2019; widely litigated, subject of major class action.

Ford Arbitration: NCDS (not BBB Auto Line)

Ford uses the National Center for Dispute Settlement (NCDS) program rather than BBB Auto Line. The NCDS process is similar to BBB Auto Line: filing → manufacturer response → hearing → award. NCDS awards are non-binding on the consumer. As with BBB Auto Line, NCDS cannot award the civil penalty or attorney’s fees.
